"Your only here for a short while. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way." Walter Hage
Taking advantage of a nice Spring afternoon my good friend, Mike Houge and I took our annual trip to Orange City, Iowa to check out the tulips at the Tulip Festival with the hope of seeing some Spring color and a lot of tulips. We decided this year to go a couple of days earlier than usual to avoid the crowd and hopefully catch the tulips at their best. As it turned out it was a great day for shooting and we both found some special moments.
In the above image I was using a very shallow f/stop and focusing in on one particular tulip as the "star of the show". As I was setting things up I noticed the "splatter" of reflected light in the background and thought it just might be the twinkle for the whole image.
In the downtown area the clanking of tools and other noise comes from the setting up of various rides for the kids as well as a number of places to eat and brows around during the festival. Tulips galore and time to enjoy the coming of Spring.
Thanks for visiting my blog site and I wish you all a beautiful Spring. Take a walk, read a book under an arching maple tree or just relax. We all deserve that much
