You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved. Ansel Adams
Spent some time shooting off of Eagle Point in the Wahpeton area this past week and came upon some ice slabs that I enjoy shooting, but in the last couple of years that haven't been too impressive. It was a nice morning with partly cloudy skies which helps to break up sky area and give the sunlight something to reflect from. It was a nice morning and I got to try out my pull over ice cleats on my boots which made it a lot easier to walk around on the ice.
The above is a better example of what i normally manage to find but this was back in 2017. It's a real treat to find and work around this size and then positioning for sunrises or sunsets which helps to illuminate the interior of the slabs. These were probably 4 - 5 feet tall and I haven't been able to find an explanation so I can understand the cause. Whatever it is we haven't seen any in the last two years.
Thanks for visiting and feel free to comment or even tell me the secret of this event.
Happy New Year, if I don't see you first.
