The artist produces for the liberation of his soul. It is his nature to create as it is the nature of water to run down the hill. W. Somerset Maugham
I went kayaking the other day with camera on board and the intent to see areas that I've photographed from dry land from a different perspective. It was early morning and a nice light fog drifted along the surface of the water. The air was calm, ducks and geese floated ahead casually making their exit from my presence. I realized that being this close to the water seemed to make everything different...taller, broader and a part of the water.
While paddling through a small lake area, passing by modern boat hoists with modern boats sitting in their "cradle", sitting along side modern docks that included various forms of yard art decor, I was struck by this odd "matchstick" assembly that looked like a primitive dock that held a skiff of a slightly later "birth". It was like turning a corner from a modern high rise downtown area and looking down a western town scene of the 1800's. Where did this thing come from? Isn't it just lovely? The creative twists of the mind can bring out that sort of response toward things unexpected.
Simple, rustic, reflections, well used and neglected. What's not to love?
Thank you for visiting and don't stop looking.
