"Painting is an illusion, a piece of magic, so what you see is not what you see." Philip Guston
Bright, sunny and cloudless day...one of the worst times to do photography considering that the bright light is working against you in areas of saturation and contrast...not enough of the former and too much of the latter. But, I needed some time out with the camera and I didn't care about the light...well, not much. All I was really after is finding "situations" and finding situations is more a matter giving opportunity a chance than anything else.
After some time of walking and scanning the area along a beach I happen to see the above collection of people just enjoying a summer day. The scene was perfect...everyone facing away from the camera! First thought...who's going to be the first to mess this "situation" up by turning to face the camera? Second, various positions and elevations of the spectators. Third...the beach on a sunny day has "theme" written all over it. Finally, the background is a supporting cast to the activity with some color accents.
I know this probably won't be my last opportunity for a summer shot, but I'm sure glad this one showed up.
Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to comment. Also, at the bottom you will note a new gallery has been added to the places where one can view my work. I'm so happy to have been asked to exhibit in the Side Street Gallery in Arnolds Park and will enjoy working with Mari Stewart, its owner/artist.
