“Think where man’s glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends.”
William Butler Yeats
Today I received a charming email from some friends that are business associates and it put me to thinking how blessed I’ve been to have had such good people through my life. Whether it be one of the gallery director/owners that I’ve met or some farmer inquiring about what I was taking a picture of as I stood on the roadside, I’ve had such people of grace show up at the most surprising times to put a smile on my face or jig in my step.
There are many days in our lives when we all are “treading water” just to get through the day, get home to our families and enjoy a peaceful evening. It’s those sprinkling of friends throughout our lives that really make a difference and put meaning in our day. It seems we usually never know when they might show up, but the message of love and caring is always the same. Whether they are a friend of the arts or a man on the street their value is golden.
The blog image is a similar prize from my latest trip and took place after a couple of days of mediocre productivity with the camera. In this particular area of Minnesota the Fall color had not yet shown it’s “face” and things just didn’t seem to be gelling. On this particular morning I was chasing around hills and valley’s trying to find a foggy scene when around one bend in the road this landscape appeared. Needless to say I was truly thankful and spent the entire duration of the fog clicking and dancing.
Take stock of those special people in your life. Those that lift your spirits, laugh at your jokes, and stand by when the need arises. These people are the real gifts that dot the life long journey that we all experience and make our lives so pleasing. And believe it or not, you also are a gift in the lives of others that you pass through.
Thanksgiving is not just a day, it’s a lifetime.

Thanks, Mike. You have a good weekend as well and hopefully the winds will subside and leave a little color left on the trees.
