“The world is but a canvas to our imagination.” Henry David Thoreau
Fall in our area is making its last gasp as frost and light flurries mark the days until Winter sets in for the next few months. I can’t say that I’m thrilled with the coming of winter, but I am thrilled with the new “canvas” it provides for photography.
The blog image and the empty docks is another indication that the summer season is well over and before long these remnants will be pulled and stored until next year. It was an opportunity to capture that mood, with winter like tones and clouds to set the scene. The camera, my trusty Canon 5D Mk II with a 24-105mm “L” lens and a long exposure. I wanted to use a shutter speed that would smooth out the water surface, but still allow for some texture to that surface. Sometimes, especially when working with moving water, it may take several exposures to achieve the desired effects. Processing was done in Photoshop CS6 with further editing accomplished with NIK software.
Lake scenes in our area have moments in time of complete serenity and to me those are quite special. I try to be at the right place at the right time, but it often becomes a guessing game and a factor of right time in the right place. But a journey to somewhere is better than standing still and this was one of those instances.
Welcome to all that join me here and thank you for your continued support and connection. Take the time to enjoy this season of color and don’t hesitate to add a comment if you wish.
